Bennett black

These wonderful typewriters were invented by Charles Almon Bennett. The original patent was applied for on 25 octudder of 1899 and granted on March 26, 1901.

The three-row keyboard is very unusual because all the keys in each column go down when the top key is pressed. A pantograph arrangement turns the wheel to the selected letter.

Sold as Bennett from 1910 at $ 18, later modified to replace ink rollers with ribbon and spools, and a folding paper table was added.
The Bennets were manufactured in two finishes, black or nickel plated. Both Bennett and Junior can be found in cast iron or fully aluminum.
